AI RAMS builder

RAMS built by AI from
a template and a prompt.

Unibuild’s AI RAMS builder writes a risk assessment and method statement from a template you choose and a prompt describing the job. You review it, edit any part by hand and finalise it.

Solved

A RAMS still to write the night before the start

What goes wrong

The principal contractor wants the RAMS before Monday. It is Thursday evening, and the person who knows the job best is the one who has to type it.

A RAMS written in a hurry is the one that comes back with comments, and every round trip costs a day.

How Unibuild solves it

In Unibuild, the writer chooses a template and describes the job in a prompt. The AI builds the RAMS from that template.

The writer starts from a full RAMS for this job, not a blank page, and spends the time on the parts that need judgement.

  • A template and a prompt
  • A full RAMS to work from
  • Time spent on judgement, not typing

Solved

A RAMS copied from the last job

What goes wrong

The quickest RAMS is the last one that was approved, saved under a new name. The access route, the hospital and the plant often stay as they were.

Regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 asks for an assessment that is suitable and sufficient for this work, not the last.

How Unibuild solves it

The AI builds the RAMS from the prompt for this job, so the task, the plant and the hazards are the ones the writer described.

Each RAMS is linked to its project, so the site name, address and job details fill in from that record.

  • Built from this job’s prompt
  • Project details filled in
  • Nothing carried over by accident

Solved

A RAMS that does not look like your firm’s

What goes wrong

Your clients and principal contractors know your RAMS. A document in a different layout, with different headings, invites questions before anyone reads the content.

A firm’s format also carries its own standards: the matrix it uses, the sections its insurer expects, the sign-off its clients ask for.

How Unibuild solves it

The AI builds the RAMS from the template the writer chooses: your own, imported free during onboarding, or one of around forty starters by trade.

The finished RAMS has your headings, your matrix and your sign-off, because it started from them.

  • Your templates, imported free
  • Around forty starters by trade
  • Your format on every RAMS

Solved

A RAMS written by AI and sent without a read

What goes wrong

Text that reads well is not the same as a control that fits the job. An AI writes fluently about a site it has never seen.

The duty to assess the risk stays with the employer, whoever or whatever typed the words.

How Unibuild solves it

Nothing the AI builds goes anywhere on its own. The writer reviews the RAMS, edits any part of it by hand and finalises it.

Your competent person makes the safety decisions, with a complete draft in front of them rather than a blank page.

  • Reviewed by a person
  • Edited by hand anywhere
  • Finalised by your competent person

Solved

Gaps found by the principal contractor, not by you

What goes wrong

“Take care at height.” A hazard with no control against it. Emergency arrangements that name an assembly point and stop there.

Each one is a reason to send a RAMS back, and each one could have been caught in the office.

How Unibuild solves it

Before release, the AI review reads the RAMS and flags vague controls, gaps and details that disagree, whoever wrote it.

The writer puts them right on the same document. The AI RAMS review page covers what it flags.

  • Reviewed before release
  • Fixed on the same document
  • Fewer RAMS sent back

Solved

A RAMS written in one place and briefed from another

What goes wrong

A RAMS drafted in a chat window is copied into a document, saved, emailed, printed and signed on a sheet in the cabin.

Every move between systems is a chance for two versions to exist, and for the operatives to sign the wrong one.

How Unibuild solves it

In Unibuild, the finalised RAMS goes for approval in the same system. Your reviewer approves it or returns it with comments.

The approved version is the one that reaches each operative’s phone at clock-in, and the one they sign.

  • Approved in the same system
  • One version on every phone
  • Signed against that version

Solved

A RAMS signed by somebody who could not read it

What goes wrong

UK sites run on many languages. A RAMS briefed only in English can be signed by an operative who followed little of it.

Regulation 10 of the Management Regulations requires employers to give workers comprehensible and relevant information on the risks they face.

How Unibuild solves it

Each operative reads the RAMS on the phone in their preferred language, with readability tools, and the app carries accessibility tools as well.

Every signature is recorded against the same version, so there is still one RAMS and one register for the job.

  • Their language, your RAMS
  • Readability and accessibility tools
  • One version, one register

Solved

Signatures nobody can prove, years later

What goes wrong

A clipboard sheet shows a name. It does not show which version was signed, when, or whether the RAMS changed afterwards.

An auditor, an insurer or a solicitor can ask about a RAMS long after the site file went into storage.

How Unibuild solves it

Every signature is stored with its date, time and device details, and printed as the final page of the RAMS PDF.

Every RAMS carries version control and an edit log, an edited RAMS is signed again, and Unibuild keeps the whole record for seven years.

  • Signature page in the PDF
  • Version control and edit log
  • Kept for seven years

In plain terms

An AI RAMS generator writes a risk assessment and method statement from a description of the work. In Unibuild it is called the AI RAMS builder, and it starts from a template: one of your own, or one of around forty starters by trade.

The writer chooses the template and describes the job in a prompt. The AI builds the RAMS. The writer reviews it, edits it by hand wherever they want and finalises it, and from there it is approved, briefed and signed like any other RAMS. The whole module is covered on RAMS software.

How it works

A template and a prompt in.
A RAMS you finalise out.

The AI does the writing. Your competent person makes the decisions, and nothing leaves the office until they have finalised it.

Choose a template

Start from your own RAMS template, imported free during onboarding, or from one of around forty starters by trade. The template sets the format, the sections and your firm’s standards.

Describe the job

Write a prompt in plain words: the task, where it is, the access and plant, who else is on site and anything unusual about this job. Site and job details fill in from the project.

The AI builds the RAMS

The AI builds the RAMS from the template and the prompt, so it arrives in your format and written for the job you described.

Review, edit and finalise

The writer reads it through, edits any part by hand and finalises it. The finalised RAMS then goes for approval, to the phones and to the signature page, in the same system.

Everyday AI, included
The AI that runs through the platform day to day is part of the monthly fee, like every other module.
Heavier AI, at cost
High-value AI work is paid as you use it, at the AI provider’s own rate. Unibuild adds nothing on top.
Your choice of model
You choose which AI model does the work, and you can change your mind later.
Your own AI account
If your firm already pays for an AI service, connect it. The provider bills you directly.

How model choice and your own AI account work

Built around your firm

Your templates, your standards, your app.

Unibuild is bespoke business software for UK trades and specialist contractors: a platform in daily production since 2016, shaped to the way each firm already works.

Your templates
Your own RAMS templates are imported free during onboarding, so the AI builds every RAMS in your firm’s format. Changes after go-live are included in the monthly fee. That is how bespoke software works here.
Your own app
Operatives read and sign in your own staff app, published on the App Store and Google Play under your company’s name and icon.
Your choice of AI
Your firm chooses the AI model that does the work, and can run it on its own AI account. How model choice works.

Questions

Asked before the first
RAMS is built.

Can AI write a RAMS?
Yes. In Unibuild, the writer chooses a template and describes the job in a prompt, and the AI builds the RAMS. The writer then reviews it, edits it by hand where needed and finalises it. A person always finalises the RAMS before it goes anywhere.
Is an AI-generated RAMS legally valid?
Yes, once your competent person has reviewed and finalised it. The law asks for a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks, under regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. It says nothing about who or what types the words. The RAMS stays your firm’s document.
Can we edit the RAMS the AI builds?
Yes, any part of it, by hand. The writer reviews what the AI built, changes whatever they want and finalises it. After that, every edit is logged and makes a new version, and an edited RAMS is signed again.
Does it use our own RAMS templates?
Yes. Your own templates are imported free during onboarding, and the AI builds from whichever one the writer chooses. Around forty starter templates by trade come with the platform as well.
What should I write in the prompt?
The task and where it is, the access and plant, who else is on site, any isolations or permits, the team, and whatever is unusual about this job. Site and job details fill in from the project, so the prompt can stay on the work itself. The table above gives an example of each.
Who is responsible for a RAMS the AI built?
Your firm, as with any RAMS. The duty to assess the risk stays with the employer, and your competent person makes the safety decisions when they review and finalise it. The AI saves them the writing, not the judgement.
Is the RAMS checked after the AI builds it?
Yes, twice. The writer reviews and finalises it, and the AI RAMS review flags vague controls, gaps and details that disagree before the RAMS is released. Your reviewer then approves it or returns it with comments.
Is there a free RAMS template?
Yes. The free RAMS template comes in PDF and Word, and there are pre-filled RAMS for individual trades and hazards in the RAMS guides. No sign-up for either.
How much does the AI RAMS builder cost?
Everyday AI is in the monthly fee. Heavier AI work is paid as used, at the AI provider’s own rate, with nothing added. The cost of AI is bespoke to each firm, and we set it out in the demo against your own volumes. How AI is charged.
